After completing her three-year Captive Animal Management Course at Sondela Academy, Ami Hyslop was given the opportunity to remain on-site as the Wildlife Centre Supervisor — a role that became an important part of her journey in the wildlife industry.
During her time at Sondela Academy, she gained far more than practical knowledge and experience.
Working closely with animals every day helped her develop patience, compassion, and a deeper understanding of wildlife care and conservation.
After her time at Sondela, Ami received an opportunity to join Adventures with Elephants, where she explored new opportunities and moved into the field of fundraising. Although it was a different career path, her passion for animals never faded.
Not long afterwards, she received the opportunity to join Cheetah Experience, where she could once again work hands-on with animals every day.
“Thus far, this has been the best decision for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Today, Ami is living out her passion by working with wildlife and continuing to grow within the industry she loves most.
“Animals always have been, and always will be my passion, and now I get to live my dream.”
Her story is a reminder that passion, perseverance, and practical experience can open doors to meaningful and fulfilling careers in the wildlife industry.
