The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in catering role, or to support a role in the workplace. Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.
Guidance on delivery the total qualification time for this qualification is 7 hours, all of which are recommended as guided learning hours.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:
• Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Catering
• Level 3 food and drink qualifications
• Hospitality competency-based qualifications

The objective of this qualification is to support learners working or preparing to work in a customer service role or where using a telephone is a part of their role. It is suitable for all industries where customer service is a requirement. The qualification covers the principles of customer service including how to meet customers’ expectations, the importance of appropriate behaviour and communication techniques as well as ways to deal with problem customers.
The total qualification time for this qualification is 7 and of this 6 are recommended as guided learning hours.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:

- Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service

Highfield Level 2 Certificate for Kitchen Assistants (RQF)

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is designed for learners employed as kitchen assistants or for those wishing to develop their skills in the industry.
This qualification covers a variety of topics including:
- the principles of food safety and health and safety
- an introduction to the hospitality industry
- kitchen equipment and knife skills
- workplace standards and professional development
- cold food preparation and presentation
- The total qualification time for this qualification is 147 hours, of which 96 are recommended as guided learning hours.
- This qualification requires 7 days Online theory and 14 days practical experience.

- Highfield Level 2 Diploma for Professional Cooks (RQF)
- Highfield Level 3 Diploma for Professional Chefs (RQF)

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace and is aimed at all operatives that serve coffee and other hot and/or cold beverages in a range of hospitality or catering settings. This qualification provides learners with specialist knowledge and skills in the hot and cold beverage sector.
This qualification covers a variety of topics including:
- the types and characteristics of different hot and cold beverages
- the types of ingredients available
- serving customers to organisational standards
- preparing and serving a variety of beverages
The total qualification time for this qualification is 50 hours, of which 36 are recommended as guided learning hours.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking training or qualifications in specialist areas within the hospitality and catering industry.
Highfield Level 2 Award in Health and Safety

This qualification is designed to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace. The objective of the qualification is to:
- prepare learners to progress into further/higher level training
- support a role in the workplace
The qualification provides learners with an understanding in the responsibilities of employers and employees, the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment and how they can reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in a workplace, common causes of accidents, near misses and ill-health, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill health.
The total qualification (TQT) time for this qualification is 10 hours and of these, 6 hours are recommended as guided learning hours (GLH).
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:
- Highfield Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
- Highfield Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment
- Highfield Level 3 Award in Health and Safety within the Workplace
