International Diploma in Hospitality Management
This unique qualification, which is aligned to the Global Hospitality Certification for the international hospitality industry, has been developed to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to enter the hospitality industry with a distinctive set of management skills.
Offering a holistic approach to training students to be work-ready, the combination of skills programmes and diploma qualifications aligns this qualification with current industry practices, covering transferable as well as role-specific job skills, as set out by employers across the world.
Over the course of 36 months, this qualification will bring together all the principles of: Food & Beverage service, Front office & Reception services, Housekeeping services, as well as Cheffing on a supervisory and management level applicable to all sectors from small restaurants, guest houses, Game lodges and Nature reserves to large scale hotels within the borders of SA and internationally. Included in the 36 months qualification are different subjects, like leadership and management, entrepreneurial studies, first aid, education, training and development programmes as well as personal development to ensure the student is well equipped.
The student gain experience in the above mentioned sectors by integrating the theory and practical components within the working environment by supervising, leading and managing the different sectors. Although this is a hands on course, the classes will be provided online and the student can study in their own time at their own pace. Due to the many practical activities to be completed, we recommend that students volunteer at any of the organizations mentioned above to gain the experience and to complete the skills programme.
Online support and guidance will be available and students can request to obtain their workplace exposure at Sondela Nature Reserve & Spa for a limited time.
